Future-oriented, professional sparring and open standards. These are some of the words used by IT Manager Majbritt Demant from the snack and potato chips manufacturer KiMs when she is asked to describe the cooperation with Little Beacon and the company's solutions.
After several years with an outdated inventory management solution with limited functionality and reliability, KiMs has spent the last year working on developing a new inventory solution that meets KiMs' needs exactly. Little Beacon delivered the solution.
We had some very specific demands to user-friendliness and to the information that the system should be able to generate. Also the solution had to be 100% integrable. It was important that our new solution could be integrated with Axapta which we use in the KiMs house and it also had to be integrated with LotusNotes and our CRM system. When Little Beacon started, it was clear that they had used a lot of energy to acquaint themselves with our business and our processes, Majbritt Demant explains.
At Little Beacon the development team recommended that KiMs make use of the MobiLive solution with a number of adjustments and features added to make it suit KiMs specifically.
The MobiLive solution has now been implemented and according to Majbritt Demant, it works without problems.
We get the information we need and from our workers in the inventory we only get positive reports - the system is easy and accessible. Majbritt Demant also stresses how important it is that Little Beacon's prodct is built on open source standards. This means that the future development of the system is not confined. - That is very important to any IT manager, she points out.
When the workers in KiMs' IT department compares the original specification requirement with the final solution today, there is a significant difference between the two. However, according to the IT manager the difference is due to the fact that the company itself participated in further developing the solution during the process.
Often you start in one place and when you then try out all the possibilities that Little Beacon's solutions make possible, you literally invent new features to optimize the inventory solution, Majbritt Demant says.
Luckily, the integration of the new features did not present any problems. Little Beacon is a bunch of creative people with a serious, businesslike and professional approach to challenges
